This April 6th, Chile will celebrate its National Sports Day, a special occasion that promotes physical activity, outdoor recreation, and overall well-being. For the 2025 edition of this celebration, the country is offering a remarkable incentive to reconnect with nature: free access to 19 national parks, natural monuments, and nature reserves across the country.
The initiative is the result of a collaboration between the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) and the Ministry of Sports, and aims to encourage people of all ages to enjoy the health and recreational benefits that Chile’s protected natural areas have to offer.
“These protected areas play a fundamental role in recreation, human well-being, and health,” explained CONAF’s executive director, Aída Baldini.
Whether you are an avid hiker, a nature lover, or simply someone looking for a peaceful day outdoors, this initiative provides a perfect opportunity to explore some of Chile’s most stunning landscapes for free.

Chile’s National Sports Day is more than just a celebration of physical activity—it’s a call to connect with nature and embrace healthier lifestyles. In an increasingly urban and digital world, spending time in nature has proven benefits for both mental and physical health. By waiving entrance fees, the government aims to remove financial barriers and encourage citizens to explore the outdoor treasures available in their own backyard.
Whether you’re planning a solo hike, a family outing, or a weekend escape with friends, April 6 is the perfect day to lace up your boots, pack a picnic, and experience the beauty of Chile’s protected areas.
